TOP EXTREME BUILD POCKET AMERICAN BULLY BREEDER

Article by Jen Davis Bully King Magazine

When one of our paid 4-page Features didn’t submit their Interview in time for print, we were left with a few pages that needed to be filled. With a print deadline looming and scrambling to decide who to contact for a last-minute interview, I thought to myself who better than the owner of BULLY KING Magazine and the Venomline Pocket Bully bloodline Matt Siebenthal.

THE BEGINNING OF THE VENOMLINE BLOODLINE

Louis V Line’s Venom

The name of our Kennel and bloodline is Venomline, named after Louis V Line’s Venom. We were formerly known as Texas Size Bullies. But we’ve been in South Florida for about 9 years now. Venomline was a way to brand the look and type of dogs that we produce. Short, compact, extreme but clean.

DHB/Venomline’s Swizz at 10 Months

It’s still too early to be considered an official line (like most American Bully lines) But Venom “Chunk” that has been as consistent a Stud as they come. He has stamped his look on everything he touches.

VENOMLINE | TOP POCKET AMERICAN BULLY BREEDER

Venomline is known for producing some of the thickest dogs in the world and doing so without sacrificing conformation or health. Our dogs are known for having massive heads, dense bone, broad chests, wide shoulders, short muzzles, and being packed rock solid with muscle on short & compact frames. Dogs with Extreme Features on Pocket frames that can still excel in the Show Ring

We aim to produce a complete dog. Ones with the “wow factor” that is still correct. With so many breeders focusing only on Extreme traits and wide fronts, I feel that conformation, along with the thick, muscular, well-angulated rears of the past has been lost.

Anyone can produce an extreme dog. It’s producing the extreme features that exude breed type on a Pocket frame, without losing functionality and maintaining Show Quality that isn’t as simple

By no means am I claiming that we are producing perfect bullies or even close to it. But, I am extremely proud of the direction we’re headed as well as the Pocket Champions we’ve produced.

AMERICAN BULLY – THE INCREDIBLE BREED

Omega of Venomline South

The American Bully became one of the fastest-growing breeds in the World in 2018, and it’s easy to see why. Despite their muscular build and “tough” appearance, they are known for being extremely gentle and make great companions.

The American Bully breed is most commonly confused with the American Pit Bull Terrier, although it is now recognized as its own breed.

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THE STATE OF THE AMERICAN BULLY BREED?

The breed is thriving both here in the United States and abroad. There are new Countries that learn about this breed every year and are excited about it.  You wouldn’t think that this is the case if you spend any time on social media though. People complain in Facebook groups about the state of the breed, about Show attendance, politics and some even make claims that Champion Titles are worthless because “titles in the show ring can be bought”

It’s always the ones without any titles that complain about how easy they are to get and breeders that are not selling pups at the price they see others selling them for. It’s the same people who have been complaining for the past 10 years. If they weren’t complaining about these things they would find something else to complain about.

People are entitled, especially in the bully community, and the majority are too cheap to invest in their own program. I’m just keeping it 100. 90% of breeders today want to build top yards without ever paying a Stud fee. They expect their Studs to become household names and their litters to sell for top dollar without ever paying to promote them.

When they see others having success it breeds envy and jealousy makes people act funny. But, if they didn’t invest a dime into their kennel while their competition is paying for 4-page Features with us every few issues, is active on social media, is it shows on the weekend meeting new people and letting them see his or her dogs in person, of course, they’re winning. I’m referring to the constant bitching in the Facebook groups.

As far as the breed is concerned, shows are harder to win at, the competition is better than ever and it’s come a long way over the past 9 years.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGED OR IMPROVED?

I would like to see more consistency within the breed. In my opinion, there are too many breeders that are all over the map. They switch things up constantly. One breeding they are after an exotic look, the next one they’re using a Standard Stud. Litters and yards are all over the place. Breeders are going after whatever is considered “hot” at the time instead of sticking to a vision and working toward a specific goal. I would like to see breeders stick with a specific class.

Our up and coming Studs- littermate brothers Rampage and Savage (from the 1st ever 2X Venom breeding are definitely two to watch. We plan to break them out over the next couple months and in person at shows.

They are pictured at 11 months old below.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE VENOMLINE CAMP

TOP LOUIS V STUD OMEGA

Adding a former Mascot and one of Louis V’s best sons to our roster has to be up there with one of the biggest additions that we have made over the past year. I was always a huge fan of Omega, and I love what he has produced so it’s an honor to have him in our camp.

Special thanks to Brandon Cagle of Gymrat Bullyz for producing him and allowing us to add him to our program. Omega is also a half brother to Venom, so this allows us to line breed with just enough outcross to avoid getting too close.

2X LOUIS V LINE’S ORO

Athena | 2X Oro

Last but not least, we imported a female (Athena)  from California. She is from the first ever 2X Oro breeding where Oro was bred back to one of his daughters. I am excited to see what 2X Oro meets 2X Venom looks like, obviously it’s a cool thought but we never make a decision on a breeding pair until both Sire and Dam are fully mature and we can gauge what each may lack, areas to improve etc.

VENOMLINE FEMALES

I’m also proud of the females produced here that have stayed with the camp. The next generation of Venomline females (in my opinion) is on a completely different level than what we’ve had in the past and we have always been known for our breeding females.

ANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

BULLY KING MAGAZINE

For the magazine, I am proud of the fact that we have reached all continents, most prisons and especially proud of the BULLY KING App reaching as many downloads as it has so far. I love the fact that more and more people, in all corners of the world are getting excited about this breed and wanting to learn more about it.

We just had the App translated in over 15 different languages as well, so reaching even more people who may not know about the breed yet will be pretty cool. Publishing our book on the breed- The Bully Bible: Everything You Need to Know About the American Bully Breed along with the response that we got back on it has to be up near the top of the list as well.

The most rewarding part of it all would definitely have to be the new friends that I’ve met and the people who had read something that was written that have had similar pasts, failures, addictions, abuse, PTSD or trauma share about how this breed has given them a second lease on life. That shit is priceless.

VENOM’S PRODUCED OFFSPRING

Venom

With Venomline I would have to say that I am extremely proud of what Venom has been producing. Everyone that has used him at Stud says the same thing I said after his 1st litter “the little guy has a gift.” The first 2X Venom breeding produced an entire litter of stars: Rampage, Savage, Lil Ting along with the entire litter turned out incredible. Both Rampage and Savage have all of the makings of future Top Studs.

LOUIS V LINE’S VENOM TOP PRODUCING STUD

I think I am probably most proud of the fact that Venom’s offspring have been able to excel in the show ring. As of this interview, Venom has Produced 3 Pocket Champions, and his firstborn daughter is currently working on her Grand Champion Title. Chunk (Venom) has over 30 offspring within 20 points of their Champion Titles.

VIEW PRODUCED OFFSPRING

The majority of his kids are still under a year old, so I’m definitely proud of that along with seeing my son Chunk (Venom) have litters internationally with kids in Canada, Australia, Germany, Mexico, and the United Kingdom along with some others I can’t announce just yet.

Venomline South

Opening a second location in Venomline South (North Carolina) is another that I am proud of and excited to watch grow over the next couple of years. With the foundation females that were produced here, combined with our Studs and staying involved in the decision-making process for all of the breeding pairs, I am looking forward to watching it grow.

Honestly, this is all still surreal to me. I try to keep my head down and just stay working, but when I think about where I have been, where my soon to be wife has been (with me) to talk about things like “accomplishments” is humbling. I can remember a time when not picking up for the day was one hell of an accomplishment.

THE AMERICAN BULLY BREED

The American Bully became one of the fastest-growing breeds in the World in 2018, and it’s easy to see why. Despite their muscular build and “tough” appearance, they are known for being extremely gentle and make great companions.

The American Bully breed is most commonly confused with the American Pit Bull Terrier, although it is now recognized as its own breed.

HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN BULLY BREED

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies

American Bullies are thick, beautiful, impressive muscular dogs with a great disposition towards other dogs, people and children. When bred correctly, they are athletic and can really move. Obviously not in the same way a 45lb American Pit Bull Terrier can. They carry a lot more muscle, and much of the gameness has been bred out. Which makes them perfect family companions.

The American Bully breed was created around 1990 and gained recognition and establishment in 2004 with the inception of the A.B.K.C Registry. The United Kennel Club or UKC recognized the American Bully breed in 2013.

According to the UKC- The American Bully breed was subtly influenced by the infusion of several other breeds, which include the American, English, and Pacific Bulldog as well as the Olde English Bulldogge along with various other bulldog breeds.

What differentiates this breed from the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier, is it’s physical appearance. The American Bully carries much heavier bone structure and a “bullier” build.

They are friendly with strangers, other dogs, and other animals. Human or dog aggression, extreme shyness or viciousness is very uncharacteristic of the American Bully and is highly undesirable.

Despite the American Bully’s fierce and powerful appearance, their demeanor is very gentle and they are known for being especially good with kids.

BREED STANDARD & CLASSES

American Bully Breed Standard & Different Classes according to the American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC)

POCKET

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies
Omega of Venomline | Pocket American Bully

This is an amendment to the basic standard which a Pocket Bully is determined by its adult height. Males under 17″ and no less than 14″ at the withers. Females under 16″ and no less than 13″ at the withers.

STANDARD

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies
Muscletone’s Butch Cassidy | American Bully Standard

The American Bully should give the impression of great strength for it’s size. It is a compact and medium/large size dog with a muscular body and blocky head. The American Bully should have the appearance of heavy bone structure with a bulky build and look.

CLASSIC

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies
American Bully Classic

This is an amendment to the basic standard. A Classic Bully is determined by it’s body structure and build. Both sex dogs with lighter body frames and less overall body mass, but still exhibiting “bully” traits

XL

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies
American Bully XL

This is an amendment to the basic standard, determined by it’s adult height. Males over 20″-23″ at the withers. Females over 19″-22″ at the withers. It is important to note that the XL Bully variety is simply taller than the Standard American Bully. XL dogs share the same build, body type and breed type as the Standard American Bully.

XXL BULLY

This isn’t a real classification of American Bully it’s a term used to market XL dogs. If a dog reaches the height and size of an XL, that’s it’s class.

EXOTIC BULLY

Pocket American Bully, THE POCKET BULLY | VENOM WITH DAUGHTERS DOLCE & LIL TING, Venomline | Texas Size Bullies
Exotic Bully

The American Bully in itself is a family new breed — barely 25 years in the making and stemming off from the bullier type American Pitbull Terriers, American Staffordshires and various types of bulldogs. The American Bully has a bullier, shorter, more compact, dense body than your average pit bull.

The exotic bully, however, is a relatively new term for the “overdone” type of bullies often times being mixed with smaller bulldogs. They often have exaggerated features and a plethora of issues.

The majority of exotics you see online are heavily photoshopped, a disturbing trend started by the BullyCampline. Although there are some nice ones, the majority of them are huge letdowns when seen in person. Many exotic bullies are complete train wrecks, with massive underbites, high rears, easty westy fronts, sway backs with short life spans and breathing issues.
