What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is vinegar that is made from apples. These apples are crushed and are later made into cider, which are then aged in wooden barrels. Unlike the usual vinegar available in the market, Apple Cider Vinegar is often raw and unfiltered. Apple Cider Vinegars contain a cloudy substance called “mother veil”. This substance is made up of apple residues and naturally-occurring pectin, which have protein molecules that are connected via strand-like chains. Apple Cider Vinegar is said to be less acidic – with a pH level between 4.25 and 5 – compared to common vinegar.

Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar for Bulldogs
Bulldogs can suffer from a plethora of health problems and giving your Bulldog ACV may be able to help prevent some of those. Apple Cider Vinegar can help boost your Bulldog’s immune system, lower cholesterol, and a lot more. It can also help prevent or address skin issues Bulldogs are prone to. Here are some ways Apple Cider Vinegar can help your dog:
Improves Digestion
It was once believed the Apple Cider Vinegar is rich in nutrients and vitamins, but this isn’t exactly true. The thing is: Apple Cider Vinegar actually improves the body’s absorption of nutrients. ACV contains acetic acid – helping increase the absorption of calcium and other minerals. This means that apart from giving your Bulldog ACV, your must also give him a nutritious and healthy diet. Take note that ACV must not be given to dogs with irritated GI lining.
Improves Skin and Helps Prevent Skin Issues
Bulldogs are very prone to a number of skin problems, particularly yeast overgrowth. Giving your Bulldog Apple Cider Vinegar may help with those issues. The acidity of ACV makes it hard for yeast to grow. ACV can also help get rid of the dog stench.
You may use ACV as rinse to your Bulldog’s bath or a skin spray. Just mix equal parts of water and ACV in a spray bottle or tub. It is not a good idea to spray or apply the ACV solution on wounds.
If your Bulldog has raw wounds, you may choose to mix the Apple Cider Vinegar with his food or drinking water instead. Orally, you can give your Bulldog 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of ACV two times per day.
You may also use Apple Cider Vinegar on your Bulldog during bath time as it can make a good dog shampoo, deodorize, and coat enhancer. Mix ½ cup of ACV with 2 cups water, and ¼ cup dishwashing liquid. Keep the lather away from your Bulldog’s eyes.
An ACV spray can also make your Bulldog’s coat look and smell better. Just spray the solution on your Bulldog’s coat and brush it.

Cleans Ears and Prevent Yeast Infection
Apple Cider Vinegar can make a natural ear cleaner. Mix it with equal parts of warm water. Moisten a washcloth with the solution and use it to wipe your Bulldog’s ears. But if you think your Bulldog has an ear infection, it’s best to have him checked by the veterinarian first.
Helps Remove Stinky Smell
If you have a perpetually curious Bulldog and you’re living in an area with skunks, chances are he will encounter one soon – if he hasn’t yet. ACV makes an amazing home deodorizer. It can remove the skunk smell and it works fast. Mix Apple Cider Vinegar and water in a pot and let it simmer for an hour.
Acts as Flea Repellent
Mixed with water, ACV can make an effective flea repellent too. Fleas do not like the taste of Apple Cider Vinegar. To make an ACV flea repellent, mix equal parts of Apple Cider Vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on your Bulldog’s coat. Do not spray the solution on the face or any open wound.
Potentially Helps Ease Arthritic Pain
When dogs get older, calcium deposits may build up around their joints — causing discomfort and stiffness. Apple Cider Vinegar contains malic acid that can dissolve these calcium deposits. Just add ACV to your Bulldog’s food twice a week. With prolonged use, your Bulldog’s joints can become more flexible and feel less pain.
How Much ACV Should I Give My Bulldog
Dogs between 15 and 34 lbs should be given 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar. If your Bulldog weighs 35 lbs or more, 1 tablespoon of ACV mixed with food should be enough.
